Sulphurated waters are primarily used in the studies an pain immunologic system and inflammation but the hyperemic state on the skin as a result of vasodilatation after the baths with this kind of waters is also reported [1-3]. Many studies have also showed that CO2-baths also have a peripheral vasodilatative effect [3 4]. As it is known in patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease the tissue perfusion and oxygenation are disturbed. That kind of tissues are susceptible to infection and to a delay in wound healing and to tissue necrosis. Our aim was to assess the effect of a local bath with sulphurated and carbondioxided waters in peripheral arterial occlusive disease by means of measurements of transcutaneous oxygen (TcPO2) and carbondioxide partial pressures (TcPCO2). Material and Method Ten healthy controls and 20 patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease were included in the study. The epidemiological features of the studied groups are demonstrated in table 1. TcP02 and TcPCO2 measurements were made with Radiometer Copenhagen TINA TCMS. Previously it has been shown that this method offers a satisfying evaluation technique of peripheral arterial occlusive diseases [5]. On the first day of the study a foot bath lasting 30 minutes in 37 ± 1 °C tap water was applicated. The measurements were taken before during and for 30 minutes after the bath every 5 minutes. On the second day the same measurements were made with 1000 mg/It carbondioxided water of the same temperature. On the third day all the measurements were repeated with 15 mg/lt sulphurated water of the same temperature. For every group the changes were analyzed by using the paired t-test. By comparing groups with each other the Mann-Whitney test was used. ... wt
