Environmental Pollution and Cancer.

Abstract: With the reproduction of the genetic program through cell division, frequent DNA-mutations occur even within the healthy organism. These can only partially be recognized and fought by the immunological system - therefore, the duration of life is restricted.Every pollutant that gets artificially introduced into the environment increases the sum of faulty cell divisions and/or weakens the immunological system. The author assumes, therefore, that the number of cancer cases will double in the near future. To prevent cancer means to protect oneself against these risks as well as possible. This can be achieved by avoiding indulging in tea, coffee, nicotine, drugs etc. and by eating a healthy diet. Thus, the outbreak of the disease can at least be delayed.
