Abstract: This article discusses pertinent music therapy services for clients with alcoholism. Based upon a review of both the available alcoholism literature, a general program format and individual goals are suggested. Selected topics include: group identity and cohesiveness, self-awareness, stress reduction, and the expression of feelings and emotions. Together with Part 1: An overview of the addiction, these two articles provide a brief introduction and review of appropriate music therapy services for people with alcoholism. The goal is to provide a foundation for music therapy students interested in working with clients with alcoholism, and current therapists seeking direction for clinical procedures. Additionally, researchers may buiild upon the information presented in the articles, and begin validating the suggested music therapy treatment strategies.
