Developmental age level extension of the music therapy assessment profile to 48 months

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to add additional test items to the MTAP test to expand the age range of clients it can be used to assess to 48 months and to provide a method for and critique of the practicality and feasibility of administering the test items. Through use with a client in a clinical setting, it was determined that there were no problems in the wording or administration of the test items. Further research is recommended to provide validity and reliability data for the MTAP and its extension and the DPIYC and DDST. The MTAP and its extension can be used as a tool for comprehensive developmental programming and as an assessment that allows a music therapist to use music and musical activities in a way that elicits optimal response from the child being assessed.
