Therapie des Herpes zoster mit proteolytischen Enzymen

Abstract: 10 patients suffering from Herpes zoster were treated in an open pilot trial with proteolytic enzymes (Wobe-Mugos®). As criteria for efficacy, following parameters were evaluated: begin of incrustation, duration until healing of the crusts, course of pain, course of segmental redness. Additionally the tolerance of the drug was estimated. All parameters were judged to be better than usual: as compared with the known course of a Herpes zoster infection, all patients were symptom-free earlier. The therapy was well tolerated in all cases. Because of these encouraging results, we now carry out a placebo-controlled double-blind trial in Herpes zoster patients.
