Natural killer and antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity activities and large granular lymphocyte frequency in VISCUM ALBUM treated breast cancer patients |
Journal/Book: Oncology 43, 93-97. 1986;
Abstract: 20 breast cancer patients received a single intravenous infusion ofIscador, a mistletoe (Viscum album L.) extract. Natural killer (NK) andantibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) activities as wellas the number of large granular lymphocytes (LGL) were investigated intheir peripheral blood at various times. Six hours after the start ofthe infusion, significant decreases and 24 h later, significantincreases in NK/ADCC activities and LGL frequencies were observed. Theseresponses followed a kinetic pattern similar to that which has beendescribed by others to occur after treatment with interferon. Author.
