Kurkrisen und reaktiver Kurprozess

Journal/Book: Zeitschrift für Physikalische Medizin. 1978; 7: 145-159.

Abstract: A survey of the temporal distribution of so-called cure reactions and cure crises ex-perienced in various different types of cure, suggests that the occurrence of cure crises bears a close relationship to the temporal Pattern of the reactive periodicity of the cure process, and is prompted by the extreme swings of the autonomic oscillations. The different individual Patterns showing early or late reactive behaviour can also he depic-ted by grouping the subjects according to autonomic responsiveness, using various indicators. The task of relating the occurrence of cure crises to the predominantly ergo-tropic extreme phases is complicated by the fact that the extreme autonomic swings have increasing and decreasing sections, each presenting different Symptoms, and also that phase differences between the various crisis indicators appear at the same time. The significance of extreme vegetative situations in the development of cure crises and their consequences was also proved by investigating the temporal distribution of over 400 fatal cases during the course of a cure as well as during the seasonal and daily courses. At the same time we where able to ensure that the circaseptan reaction periodicity of the cure course was not an exogenous weekly rhythm. Being part of the period reactivity pattern of a cure, the cure reaction or cure crisis is an important practical guideline for the doctor. Its extent and temporal position provide a key to the dynamics of the individual's reactivity. During the course of a cure, it is not usually possible to carry out objective observations on parameters, which would facilitate' rational arrangement of the therapeutic stimuli. For this reason, in order to obtain an assessment of the reactive cure process, we recommend the use of a cure diary with daily entries concerning subjective well-being.
