Abstract: Institute of Systematic Medical Therapy and Medical Hydrology of the University of Rome Dir. Prof. M. MESSINI Very recently - the 7th and 8th October this year - we organized in Lacco Ameno on the isle of Ischia a Symposium of prominent representatives of European Medical Schools for a revision of the subject: what are the actual points of view of some important rheumatologists about thermal treatments of rheumatic diseases. In Europe as well as in the United States - although much less - there are still debates and doubts about the real importance of thermal treatments of rheumatic diseases ; and it is for the very reason of spreading among doctors an up-to-date and authoritative review an this topic that this Symposium was planned and realized. While here we thought it our duty to report to you - if only in brief - what was said by various European participants regarding the treatments of various articular diseases. Their conferences were dedicated partly to examinations of general problems connected with thermal treatments of rheumatic diseases and partly to discussion of different illnesses taken one by one and the most suitable treatment for each one of them.
