Helio- and thalassotherapy of psoriasis and allergic conditions in Dubai

Abstract: A. MACK E. MACK DUBAI United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) a country the size of Austria has as its borders two seacoasts the Gulf and the Indian Ocean. This geographical feature enables this country the ability to practice helio- and thalassotherapy throughout most of the year. The experience with these therapies has been taking place on the Red Sea for 6 years and the Gulf for 24 years. We have researched the effects of these therapies on patients suffering from many different problems such as psoriasis parapsoriasis lichen ruber planus various forms of neurodermitis and other dermatological conditions. Benefits of these treatments of rheumatic diseases have been discussed as have also some experiences with respiratory problems. A wide range of adjuvant physical therapies (laser magnetic field etc.) have been utilized and a big variety of herbal and other types of medicaments have been analysed as additional therapy once they have been proved not to produce any side effects. Common problems brought about by this treatment have been studied. References are listed as well as an emphasis placed on the necessity for more clinical trials. wt
