Die Situation von Medizin und Naturheilverfahren an der Jahrtausendwende *

Abstract: Four important problems of medicine at the turn of the millennium are chosen and are reflected upon briefly:The commercialism, which runs wild everywhere also contaminates medicine and the thinking of physicians Our thought patterns have to be broadened in many respects, e.g. by the universal concept of symbiosis by EnderleinTo set up of scientific standards as absolute, threatens the freedom of therapy of the physician and the vivid development of the art of healingThe clinical methodology is characterized by objectivism, i.e. taking all subjectivity out of the process, and by empiricism, i.e. to set up the principle of trial and error as absolute. With the help of the so-called evidence based medicine it is tried, to enforce these principles in medical practice. The aim is a physician, who believes in studies and who is intellectually uninformed, who no longer thinks about things himself, and who has no longer any trust in his own experience.
