Inpatient psychotherapy of schizophrenia and borderline disorders in the Dynamic-Psychiatric Hospital Menterschwaige

Journal/Book: Dynam Psych. 1999; 32: Kantstrasse 120/121, D-10625 Berlin, Germany. Pinel-Verlag Fur Humanistische Psych Philos. 37-54.

Abstract: Objective of this study is the holistic and integrative concept of treatment as developed by Gunter Ammon within the Hospital for Dynamic Psychiatry Menterschwaige Munich. Structure and process of working in the hospital reflect this concept which aims at the psychotherapeutic treatment of archaic identity diseases. The whole hospital represents multidimensional, group-dynamically and social-energetically structured space for development, in which a variety of unconscious and conscious group-dynamics develop processually, at the same time and parallelly and are integrated into the dynamics of the whole field. This system with its variety of elements as the different therapeutic methods, the structuring of the patient group, the group-dynamics of the team and structuring of time must be integrated. This integration is achieved theoretically by the connection with Ammon's Human-Structure Model, a homogenious treatment theory and practically by the case conferences, supervising group work and by the plenary group. With the example of working disorders the difference between the treatment of borderline and schizophrenic disorders is demonstrated.
