Der psychogene Schmerz

Abstract: Physical pain, psychical, mental and social pain "has to be differentiated but not separated" (Council of Toledo). All four kinds of pain belong together. lf only the physical pain is eliminated, it can happen, that it continues to live on another level and that it becomes even worse. Every pain, no matter how it has been triggered, is also an psychical experience. The subjective perception of pain is totally different from individual to individual, as sado-masochist practices show.When looking for the cause of pain as well as during the treatment of pain, all four levels have to be taken into consideration.
