Chrom - ein essentielles Spurenelement- Bedeutung für Klinik und Praxis - |
Abstract: For the normal glucose and lipid metabolism, chromium is an essential nutrient. A manifested chromium deficiency rarely occurs. As a result of the nutritional habits in industrialized countries we have to reckon on a suboptimal supply of chromium in food. It is assumed, that a chromium deficiency is more important for man, that it has been suspected so far. It is said, that it is connected with a reduced glucose tolerance, increased lipid levels, increased glucose levels with an empty stomach, a reduced insulin sensitivity of the tissue and a reduced number of insulin receptors. This results in clinically defined approaches for a supplementation of chromium.
