Experimentelle Untersuchungen zur antimykotischen Wirksamkeit eines Myrrhe, Kamillenextrakt und Kaffeekohle enthaltenden Arzneimittels

Abstract: The interest in naturopathic alternatives concerning antimycotic therapy is increasing. On the basis of promising clinical experiences gained with an oral drug combination containing myrrh, coffee coal and camomile, in vitro examinations of 21 yeast strains isolated from various stool samples were carried out. The latter were cultivated out of analyses of the intestinal flora. Referring to the German Industrial Standard (DIN 58940) experiments using agardilution procedure were performed to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC).Distinct antimycotic effects of myrrh and coffee coal on intestinal yeasts could be documented. These results should stimulate further clinical-pharmacological studies.
