Portrait of a Medicinal Plant -Broom Cytisus scoparius (L.) L1NK

Abstract: The broom, Cytisus scoparius (L.) LINK, is an old medicinal plant. Whereas in earlier times all parts of the plant were used in medicine, nowadays only herb and flowers are used. This review deals with the constituents, the pharmaceutical use and the toxicology of the drug. Furthermore some background informations on the name and the role of broom in history are given.
