Der Stellenwert der Massage in der ärztlichen Praxis

Abstract: The attempt is made, to evaluate massage on the basis of the results gained so far with regard to the mechanisms of action, the special massages, the indications and the contra-indications. In contrast to pharmaco-therapy, the massages has the important advantage, that it can eliminate abnormal tissue findings and a strong nociceptive input and that it shows no side effects or complications, when it is carried out correctly. In addition, a strong interhuman contact is established, as it is hardly possible in today's mechanized medicine. In the future, the various massage indications should be reduced and research should be concentrated on especially promising diseases. In case of unsuccessfulness of the massage or due to continuing complaints the reflex disturbances still exists. There will surely be changes in the technique, the indications and the rank of the massage, but this proven method will still be a part of the complex therapeutical program of future medicine.
