Überlegungen zur Epidemiologie der HIV-Infektion - der Einfluß bakterieller Antigene und Konsequenzen für die Behandlung

Author(s): Gallenberger, K., Kräling, J.

Abstract: In the present communication a hypothesis is put forward concerning the outbreak and spread of AIDS in Africa and worldwide. Based on data from literature the beginning of the AIDS epidemic is related - as to time, place and circumstances - to the initial introduction of antibiotics on a large scale in areas of Central Africa later comprising the "AIDS belt". lt is further concluded, that certain antibiotics by inducing the formation of persistent bacterial superantigens may represent an important link between asymptomatic HIV carriers and the development of AIDS. Bacterial (e. g. Staphylococcal) superantigens by acting as a permanent stimulus on the immune system would thus favour T-cell infection and the production of new virions in the presence of HIV-Consistent with this hypothesis we have developed a concept for the treatment of HIV-infection and AIDS based on an isopathic method which seems to be effective in eliminating bacterial antigens. Oral administration of a lysate of Staphylococcus aureus Cowan I in homoeopathic potency (C12) showed favourable results in patients with HIV-infection as well as in advanced stages of AIDS. Laboratory data are presented from 5 European patients (observation period: 1 year) and 7 African patients (observation period: 3 months) demonstrating a remarkable increase of CD4-T-cell subsets in accordance with the improvement of clinical symptoms.
