AMED: a bibliographic database for complementary medicine and allied health

Abstract: This article is a description of the AMED database for complementary medicine and allied health. Following a brief historical introduction, the main aspects of the database likely to interest current and Potential users are described: general aims, subject areas, journals, the bibliographic record, and indexing and searching. Data relevant to the coverage of complementary medicine in AMED is presented which, together with the preceding sections, may be useful in evaluating the quantity of citations potentially accessible. Present methods of accessing AMED or sections of it are described, including hardcopy, individual searches, online, and floppy disk. The article concludes with an indication of current ideas for developing the product.
