Darmflora-Störungen und ihre Folgen |
Abstract: Several functional disturbances or diseases of the gut are connected to pathological changes of the intestinal microbial ecosystem. Such disturbances of the intestinal microflora are reflected by changes of total microbial counts, changes of microbial subpopulations, changes of microbial metabolism or changes of microbial colonization of distinct parts of the intestine. The induction of these changes of the gut ecosystem may be of exogenous (e.g. infectious agents, antibiotics, x-rays) or of endogenous (e.g. diverticula, motility disorders) origin. Intestinal diseases which develop because of disturbances of the intestinal microflora are, among others, antibiotic-associated diarrhoea and colitis or gut mycoses. There also exist relationships between extraintestinal diseases and gut microecology. In recurring urinary tract infections and relapsing vaginal mycoses die gut represents a reservoir for the infectious microorganisms involved.
