Das physikalische Weltbild der Naturwissenschaftlichen Medizin

Abstract: Medicine which is oriented to the physical conception of the world can be interpreted as an attempt to complement and overcome a theosophically motivated subjectivity of the end of the Middle Ages by the development of a hypothesis which can be falsified and verified empirically. The ill human being is standing in the field of metaphysical qualities and qualities which can be understood physicochemically. As a result of the diagnostical and therapeutical processes of knowing, the physician must carry out a complex information processing on a rational as well as intuitive level. Initial subjective evaluations have to be harmonized with measurable variables which can be objectified; selection of the measuring parameters, its interpretation and discrepancies with respect to his diagnosis, mean an intellectual as well as emotional challenge for the physician. In the ideal case, the job of the physician is to form a hypothesis based on experience, which is verified by sensory experience, physicochemical analysis as well as intuition. The creative achievement of integration of heterogeneous information which follows, forms the unrenouncable basis of medical diagnostics and therapy. The development of physicochemical hypotheses makes it necessary to verify and expand previous intuitive as well as mechanistical hypotheses or ideologies. The physical conception of the world - in combination with a holistic approach - contributes to the self-reflection and critical calling into question of one's own position as a physician and it contributes to the enrichment of the relationship physician-patient.
