Neurodermitis - die Behandlung mit natürlichen Fettsäuren

Abstract: The fundamental pathogenetic mechanism of atopic eczema is still unknown. As the clinical symptoms are varying in a wide range, many authors postulate a pathogenetic heterogeneous group of patients. This theory is supported by the fact that different therapies only respond to a part of the patients. Gamma-Iinolenic acid, a natural fatty acid in different seeds, leads to a reduction in clinical symptoms for 60-70% of patients suffering from atopic eczema. The main source of this fatty acid are the seeds of borrago officinalis, lower contents can be found in the seeds of some berrys and of oenothera biennis.
