Essentielle Fettsäuren und ihre Bedeutung in der menschlichen Ernährung |
Journal/Book: Ärztezeitschrift für Naturheilverfahren. 1994; 35/3: 201-204.
Abstract: Although retrograde, in Germany the uptake of fat is still too high. However, in spite of this fact the supply of essential fatty acids is rather marginal. Their functions are manifold. One important role of the essential fatty acids is their function as precursors of mediator substances. Disorders in the metabolism of the essential fatty acids may result in an unbalance of the mediator substances being formed. As a result thereof diseases, as for instance neurodermitis but also atherosclerotic changes, are discussed An increased uptake of essential fatty acids and an eventually aimed supplementation of single fatty acids may be of certain 1.mportance in the treatment and prevention of certain diseases.
