Paracelsus und seine Bedeutung in der Medizingeschichte |
Abstract: The intention is, to present the work of Paracelsus in rough outlines in the scientific-historical context of the renaissance. In this connection, occultism (doctrine of signatures), the natural magic (sympathy magic) and demonology, which is mixed up more and more with the psychological way to view things play an important role. lt is intended to explain the "four pillars of medicine" especially on the basis of the paper of Paracelsus called "Paragranum".These four pillars are the microcosm-macrocosm doctrine, alchemy and its preparation of drugs, the psychosomatic concept of the power of belief and the imagination as well as the virtue of the physician. The history of prescription of Paracelsus within the scope of naturopathy must be illuminated critically. Paracelsus, with whom modern iatrochemistry and in the end the pharmaceutical production of drugs begins, was by no means a pure nature doctor in the sense of the 19th century. Finally it is intended to demonstrate, that the Paracelsus research was not able to clarify sufficiently the historic reality and that it has generally produced an ideologically overcharged picture of Paracelsus.
