Abstract: Investigates the application of digital music technologies to the music-therapy treatment of children. The five participants created music interactively using digital instruments. Each participant received six half-hour individual music-therapy sessions. Participants experienced three levels during the therapy process: trust, action, and internalization. The appropriateness of digital-music technology for the purpose described here is evident from the results (the musical structures the participants engaged in; the preferences they exhibited for instruments, preset patterns, and timbres; and the relationships they formed with the instruments).
