Abstract: To the physician in search of creatively therapeutic procedures that stimulate the patient's imagination and appetite for experience while promoting awareness of body processes and introspection, music therapy presents itself as a complex range of practical procedures with differing theoretical orientations and varying degrees of scientific incorporation. This leads to the question of how music therapy sees itself, its theoretical base, and the empirical rationale of the choice between various procedures in the indication for treatment, process, and the research of results.
