Abstract: The purpose of the present study was to compare electric activities of M. splenius, M. trapezius pars horizontals, M. trapezius pars descendens and M. erector spinae bilaterally in 4 different sitting positions (sitting upright supported by back rest, relaxed without back rest, upright without support and working an a computer) in ten healthy persons. There were no significant left/right differences in electric activities in all muscle groups studied. The lowest activity was found in all persons in the upright supported position with back rest and the highest activity was seen working an Computer. Data suggest that ergonomically individual adaptation and integration into environment, short breaks and movement and resistance training of lumbar extension are important to avoid back trouble.
