Behandlung der hämorrhagischen Cystitis (Harnblasenschleimhautblutungen) mit Kamillenextrakt*

Abstract: 7 male and 25 female patients (of an urological practice) suffering from haemorrhagic cystitis were treated either with Co-trimoxazole tablets only (group A) or with Co-trimoxazole and Kamillenextrakt, an ethanolic extract of matricaria flowers (group B). Each group consisted of 16 persons divided into by randomisation. The patients were between 19 and 55 years old.On the first day of therapy, Kamillenextrakt diluted with boiled warm water was applied in group B as a bladder instillation. The following days these patients used Kamillenextrakt themselves for the preparation of a hipbath once daily. 10 days after the beginning of the treatment, results were evaluated. The decrease of the symptoms was found to occur earlier in the group treated with the matricaria extract. The tolerance of Kamillenextrakt was assessed as very good by all patients.
