Abstract: The advent of the neural therapy term " field of disturbance" according to Hunekewas a watershed in the long history of the medical notion of a ' focus". A field ofdisturbance exerting pathogenic effects in remote areas of the body may, for in-stance, be embodied by an apparently non-irritating scar without any evidence ofa pathological, anatomical focal effect. Thus the decisive factor is the function ofthe field of disturbance as an energy factor that generates a slow-healing ' focus ´;for instance in the form of a chronic inflammation that has established itself as adysregulatory factor, understood in terms of a kind of emergency compensation.The field of disturbance persists even after the focus has been eliminated, thereforerequiring repeated subsequent regulation therapeutic treatment, a procedure sup-ported clearly by the colloid theory worked out in decades of experience.
