Kritik der Esoterik und des New Age aus christlicher Sicht |
Abstract: The "market" of therapeutical and medical offers of the New Age scene comprises in addition to methods from the outsider medicine and humanistic psychology more and more methods from traditional esotericism and magic. The fascination of esoteric methods of healing only partly depends on concrete healing expectations; these methods also fascinate by a comprehensive magic and occult philosophy of life and orientation of life connected with them or they are simply accepted as a change on a fashionable "market of feeling well." The respective offers of healing accept more than the scientific based art of healing the need for a comprehensive orientation of life, e.g. by esoteric views of life of universal connection. In practice, many Christians feel free to use methods of the outsider medicine as well, according to the maxim of the apostle Paul (i. Corinthians 10,25), who - free from any magic view of life - did not inquire for the sake of his conscience in the case of the meat which was used as a sacrifice to idols. There also exist critical reservations against the esoteric theory, from which various outsider methods can only hardly be separated. The hint, that unrealistic expectations of healing often go back to certain views of life also belongs to the "distinction" of the Christian thinking on today's market of views of life. In contradiction to their holistic claim, various offers of healing of esotericism fit into the modern "thinking of feasibility." And the patient often expects from the esoteric methods only to be "repaired" instead of realizing, that illness and health can also result in a comprehensive change and renewal of life. Therefore it is important, that everybody - specialists as well as esoterics - still knows, who is the one, all healing and all wellbeing is coming from (wether with chemicals or with natural remedies).
