Abstract: In the analysis of patients suffering from chronical exhaustion syndrome (CES) a persisting, typical suppressive immunological defect could commonly be found. It is mainly the activated T-cells, the B-cells, the natural killer-cells and the T-suppressor-cells that are affected. The pathomechanism and the regulation disturbance is caused by pathogenous antigen-antibody-complexes. It is a common pattern that immunologically narrowly controlled patients suffering from an acute virus infection show a typical immunological disturbance, which offers an explanation of the so far disputed pathomechanism of CES. The mechanisms found allow immunologically orientated approaches of therapy.
