Versuch einer Objektivierung der "Grande Piqûre" |
Journal/Book: Deutsche Zeitschrift für Akupunktur. 1992; 35/03: 66-68.
Abstract: The idea of the "Grande Piqûre" is based on the classical Chinese concept to antagonistic relationship the coupled meridians on teh same sida and the same meridians on the other side of the body. The traditional view is that the basis of every cure is te reestablishment of the disturbed iquilibium between paired meridians of partners, one demonstrating an overabundance or excell of "energy", the other a deficiency. In the case of unilateral pain along the course of a meridian showing an excess of enery there must therefore be a deficiency in its partner on the other side. There are two ways of adjusting this difference of enery. Firstly, taking enery away from the afflicted side (sedation) and, secondly, supplying enery to the relatively weaker partner on the opposite side (tonification). Since tonification is always given priority, therapy will always be performed via the Lo point of the healthy but relatively weaker partner. In this way the excess of energy on the afflicted side is reduced. This method is demonstrated by a case of unilateral pain due to bursitis of the popliteus. An increase in the temperature of the skin is an aspect of an excess of energy. Surface thermometry is used as an attempt to objectively test whether a shift in the temperature levels between the left and the right side can be achieved by acupuncture therapy. The positive result which was achieved suggests that surface thermometry may be used both for research purposes and for therapy documentation.
