Immunmodulation durch Echinacea purpurea und Viscum album

Abstract: Many formulations containing more or less well defined extracts from higher plants are actually utilized as immunomodulator, or as so-called 'biological response modifier' for the unspecific therapy of infections diseases or as an adjuvant for tumor treatment. An essential prerequisite is the standardisation of such plant extracts. The respective compounds fond in extracts of Echinacea purpurea and Viscum album, which are thought to act on the immune system are presented and their role as immunostimulant is discussed.
