, , ,Abstract: A prospective pilot study was conducted, involving 23 male subjects aged 50 to 59 years and subjected to a multistep oxygen application (GK 2-1 method proposed by M. v. Ardenne). The capillary oxygen pressure was found to be elevated along with a diminished venous oxygen pressure for not less than six months. The line-up of the group of subjects may have accounted for the fact that the result was not statistically significant. In contrast, statistically significant improvements were noted for scotopic vision, immediate and long-term adaption, as well as glare. These are assumed to be attributable to an improved choroidal microcirculation with a consecutive improvement of the pigments of vision.
