Vollwertkost und Fettstoffwechselstörungen - Ergebnisse einer vierwöchigen klinischen Studie

Abstract: It was shown in a prospective clinical study that with a dietary regimen of so-called "fully balanced nutritional value" (known in Germany as Vollwertkost) or fresh food, enhanced serum levels of cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides and gamma-GT significantly lowered. These changes were largely independent of age and sex. Fresh food resulted in an even more marked reduction. Reduction of cholesterol levels was more pronounced the greater the weight reduction. Patients who had eaten many meat products before inpatient therapy showed the best reduction of cholesterol and LDL levels, whereas no acorresponding link was established in respect of HDL levels.
