Abstract: In this overview article reasons and consequences of the hypoglycemia are described. In the population hypoglycemia can be found very frequently but is seldom perceived as a disease. According to the present knowledge hypoglycemia must be seen as a pre-diabetes. We describe analytical possibilities which allow already now to perceive disorders of the sugar metabolism in its infancy. At present when diabetes is diagnosed all the signs of diabetic complications may already be seen very clearly. The orthomolecular medicine opens the way for a carefully directed, early prevention of diabetes.
