Abstract: We treated in total 42 patients suffering from a Raynaud's syndrome with the extracorporal ultraviolet radiation of the own blood. In this 28 patients underwent UVB eight times and 14 patients underwent HOT eight times. With the UVB 61 per cent of the patients showed a decrease in the frequency and intensity of the Raynaud attacks induced through cold; after the HOT 84 per cent of the patients reported a decrease of these complaints. The reason therefore might be the significant decrease in the viscosity of the plasma which prior to the therapy was increased. This decrease occurred with both procedures of the treatment. The clinical and serological effects were especially pronounced in the patients with a secondary Raynaud syndrome (mainly acral occlusions of the vessels in case of scleroderma) and turned out to last for a longer period of time with the HOT.
