Fünf Jahre nach Tschernobyl Beurteilungskriterien zur Zweckmäßigkeit verschiedener Hilfsmaßnahmen für die strahlenbelastete Bevölkerung in der Sowjetunion

Abstract: Prof. Dr. med. E. Lengfelder Strahlenbiologisches Institut der Universität München Zusammenfassung Die vom Reaktorunfall in Tschernobyl (26. April 1986) betroffene Bevölkerung in der Sowjetunion bedarf dringend der internationalen Hilfe. Die Zweckmäßigkeit verschiedener Ansätze der Hilfeleistung wird im vorliegenden Beitrag auf der Grundlage der örtlichen Situation in den betroffenen Republiken erörtert. Im medizinischen Bereich liegt der Bedarf in der Behandlung bereits bestehender und in Zukunft zu erwartender Erkrankungen. Zur wirkungsvollen Hilfe gehören die Fortbildung sowjetischer Ärzte im Westen die gezielte Ausstattung geeigneter Kliniken dort mit leistungsfähigen Geräten mit Medikamenten und Verbrauchsgütern. Die entsprechende radiometrische Ausstattung geeigneter Organisationen macht es möglich weitere Strahlenbelastung der Bevölkerung zu reduzieren und Ängste abzubauen. Auch der Ferienaufenthalt sowjetischer Kinder im Westen ist eine sinnvolle Hilfsmaßnahme. Five Years after the Chernobyl Disaster. Criteria for the Assessment of the Effectiveness of Various Ways of Helping the Population Exposed to Radiation in the Soviet Union: The Population in the Soviet Union which has been affected by the reactor accident in Chernobyl (April 26 1986) urgently needs international help. In this contribution the effectiveness of various ways of help is discussed on the basis of the local situation in the affected republics. In the medical field the needs concern the acute cases of diseases and those expected in the future. Effective help includes postgraduate medical education the systematic supply of efficient equipment for suitable hospitals of medicine and consumable items. The correct radiometric equipment in the hands of adequate organisations would allow the reduction of further radiation exposure and the removal of fear. Holiday trips of Soviet children to western countries can also be regarded as a substantial support. ab
