Wirksamkeit von LI 1370 bei älteren Patienten mit Hirnleistungsschwäche Multizentrische Doppelblindstudie des Fachverbandes Deutscher Allgemeinärzte

Abstract: Dr. med. E. Brüchert Arzt für Allgemeinmedizin Bovenden Zusammenfassung In 33 Fachpraxen für Allgemeinmedizin wurde eine plazebokontrollierte Doppelblindstudie mit insgesamt 303 Patienten zur Wirksamkeit eines Ginkgo-biloba-Spezialextraktes bei älteren Patienten mit Hirnleistungsschwäche durchgeführt. Die Dosierung betrug 3 x 1 Filmtablette à 50 mg Ginkgo-biloba-Spezialextrakt täglich über 12 Wochen. Kontrolltermine waren nach der 6. und 12. Behandlungswoche. Geprüft wurde neben der Symptomatik bei zerebraler Insuffizienz auch der Zahlenverbindungstest und bei Studienende die Beurteilung des Arztes und des Patienten zur Wirksamkeit des Präparats. 209 Protokolle standen für die statistische Auswertung zur Verfügung. Statistisch signifikante Besserungen konnten nach 6 Behandlungswochen bei 3 von 11 und nach 12wöchiger Therapie bei 8 von 11 Symptomen nachgewiesen werden. Im Zahlenverbindungstest kam es in der Verum-Gruppe zu einer Verbesserung der Durchführungszeit um 25% unter Plazebo nur um 14% (p < 0 01 im Gruppenvergleich). Sowohl im Arzt- als auch im Patientenurteil zur Wirksamkeit ergaben sich hochsignifikante Unterschiede zwischen beiden Gruppen. Die Nebenwirkungsrate war in der Verum-Gruppe halb so hoch wie in der Plazebo-Gruppe. Efficacy of LI 1370 in Elderly Patients with Cerebral Insufficiency: Multicentric Double-blind Trial by the German Association of General Practioners: In 33 general practitioners' practices a placebo-controlled double-blind study concerning the efficacy of a Ginkgo biloba special extract in elderly patients with cerebral insufficiency was carried out with 303 outpatients. The dosage was 3 x 1 coated tablet of 50 mg Ginkgo biloba special extract daily for 12 weeks. Controls took place after the 6th and l2th therapy week. Signs of cerebral insufficiency as well as the figure connection test and at the end of the therapy the doctor's and patient's judgement on the efficacy of the preparation were taken into account. 209 protocols were available for the statistical evaluation. Statistically significant improvements were demonstrated after 6 weeks of therapy on 3 out of 11 typical symptoms and after 12 weeks of therapy on 8 out of 11. In the active group the time period for the figure connection test was improved by 25% in the placebo group only by 14%(p < 0 01 in comparison between the groups). Both the doctor's and the patient's judgement concerning the efficacy show highly significant differences between the two groups. The incidence of side effects was as half as high in the verum group compared to the placebo group. ab
