Meeting the Music Needs of Mainstreamed Blind and Low Vision Students

Abstract: This paper provides an overview of literature and findings of a survey of the musical needs of mainstreamed blind and low vision students and their teachers and establishes the viability, potential and importance of music in the education of blind students. The needs of visually impaired students and their teachers are discussed and suggestions and recommendations made for the future in light of current educational trends and the various sources and high-tech equipment now available.
