Einsatz der Akupunktur bei der Behandlung von Stillproblemen. Eine prospektive, randomisierte Studie und einige grundsätzliche therapeutische Überlegungen

Abstract: The high value of breast-feeding both for mother and child is undoubted. The positive result of breast-feeding that can be achieved essentially depends on the fast aid provides to the mothers in case of any problems arising in breast-feeding. The comparison between women with and without acupuncture treatment showed that no significant difference can be found in respect of short- or medium-term results of breast-feeding. The success of breast-feeding depends much more on the described basic measures which should already start with preparatory measures during pregnancy and in particular include the early breasting in the room for labouring women.However, it could be shown that the occuring problems were in average faster overcome through the additional use of acupuncture and that the degree of contentment arising in the women treated with acupuncture was distinctly higher. This ranged from the simple contentment up to a rather euphoric enthusiasm. Especially in case of such problems of breast-feeding which are accompanied by pains the acupuncture proved true as relieving measure as far as such problems are not due to unsurmountable anatomic changes. But also for improving insufficient lactation the use of acupuncture is justified as a purposeful adjuvant measure encountered by the women as being very positive.
