Dobbelstein Krankenhaus der Missions-Benediktinerinnen Tutzing Zusammenfassung Die vorliegende Kasuistik beschreibt das ungewöhnliche Krankheitsbild eines 30jährigen Afrikaners der sich zu Studienzwecken in Deutschland aufhielt und während dieser Zeit ein nephrotisches Syndrom mit rasch progredienter Niereninsuffizienz entwickelte. Das histologische Korrelat war eine in Deutschland in dieser Form bisher nicht beschriebene Kombination einer glomerulären Erkrankung mit einer interstitiellen Nephritis. Dabei handelte es sich um die Erstmanifestation einer AIDS-Erkrankung - im nordamerikanischen Schrifttum als AIDS-assoziierte Nephropathie bezeichnet. AIDS-Associated Nephropathy: A case history of a 30-year-old male negro from Ruanda visiting Germany for agricultural studies exemplifies that the primary and leading manifestation of AIDS can be a nephrotic syndrome with rapidly progressing renal insufficiency. Microscopic characteristics of this AIDS-associated nephropathy include a certain form of glomerulonephritis (in the US literature classified as focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis) combined with heavy interstitial inflammation. The case is discussed in the light of corresponding publications from the U.S.A.; in the Federal Republic of Germany however no similar case seems to have been reported so far. ab
