Art therapy research in England: Impressions of an American art therapist

Abstract: Presents reflections by a US art therapist on the state of art therapy research in England, along with a review of selected British publications on art therapy. While it appears that there has been considerably less research done in England than in the US, research in the US often has been poorly designed, consisting mostly of anecdotes and case studies. In both countries, there have been research articles published by art therapists that have not made serious attempts at empirical control.
