Abstract: Acupuncture is only a part of the holistic concept of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Acupuncture is apt for the treatment of disorder, not apt for the treatment of distruction. Practical experience with acupuncture shows good results in treatment of Typ I allergies, such as allergic rhinitis, asthma bronchiale, specially in children; and in Typ IV allergies, such as ekzema and neurodermitis (insufficient number of cases for statistical evaluation). The success rate of Ludwig Boltzmann Institute in Vienna is 56% in treatment of asthma bronchiale and 56% in rhinitis allergica. As well we've seen good results by treating urticaria caused by influence of cold.We know rather exactly how acupuncture works in analgesia; although we know some facts about acupuncture effect on the immune system it is not obvious how acupuncture works on allergic diseases. For the choice of an acupuncture point programme the localisation of the disease, external and internal pathogenious factors (wind, cold, heat, dumpness etc., and emotions like fear, Aggression, anger etc.) are to be considered. For children and dermatological diseases the application of Laser is recommended.TCM does not only treat the symptoms but treats the patient in his actual situation with his actual complaints. I.e. the doctor must not deal only with the findings but as well must deal with patient's actual feeling. As acupuncture has no negative side effects and seems to be quite effective in the treatment of allergies, it can be recommended as a complementary therapy combined with various conventional and/or complementary methodes.
