Abstract: Pleural and peritoneal fluid carcinoses are generally treated with a combination of operations to drain off exudate and instillations of cytostatic agents, radiotherapeutic agents, and other drugs. The side-effects of this therapy are often considerable, or there are contraindications. In clinical tests enzymetherapeutical methods of treatment have proven an efficient alternative with few undesirable side-effects.Full remission of the exudate turned an average 3.7 weeks the patients were symptomatically cured. With every fourth patient only, intrapleural enzymetherapeutical measures fail. As a side-effect, a temporary raise of temperature has to be mentioned. Allergic general reactions ("pleural shock") happen in less than one percent of treatments and can be controlled symptomatically without any problems.
