Abstract: This paper describes the use of vibro acoustic therapy (music and low freqency sound) in treating people with a variety of problems. It briefly recounts the early development of vibro acoustic therapy, and goes on to describe the development of this therapy in Harperbury Hospital as part of the music therapy and physiotherapy programmes. It then describes a specific research project on clients with physical handicap and also clients with oedema which was undertaken as an objective trial. The results of the research is discussed and indications are given for future uses of vibro acoustic therapy. This paper is available from the BSMT. Price ú3.
