The relationship between eating disorders and society

Abstract: The symptoms of patients with eating disorders correspond surprisingly with phenomena in our society. The female principle is overshadowed, as are affectionate attitudes to the body. We feel inwardly homeless and we have lost the proper measure. The awareness of being both, a part and the whole has not evolved. The loss of relationship is compensated by achievement and deludes us into believing we are self-sufficient. Death and transcendancy are denied.
