Abstract: Describes experiences with a music-therapy group for inpatients with multiple sclerosis. Results from 225 male and female West German adults (aged 19-68 yrs) who participated in the 4-6-wk program indicate that group music therapy can provide psychological support and can help patients cope with their illness. Observations of the therapy sessions reveal that group discussions focused on the patients' disabilities, uncertainty, anxiety, depression, loss of self-esteem, and other problems associated with multiple sclerosis. (English abstract) ABSTRACT 2: Studied the role of music therapy in the development of pianist-child interactions. Human subjects: Two female Japanese preschool children (Down's syndrome). Ss' behaviors, responses, interests, and interactions were studied during music therapy with drums. Ss were followed from ages 2 yrs to 4 yrs. (English abstract)
