Abstract: Studied the effects of a program of group activities for elderly nursing home residents with varying degrees of physical agility. Human subjects: 40 male and female East German adults. Ss were allocated to 1 of 4 groups that met for 1-2 hrs weekly over a 6-mo period. Activities included discussions based on specific texts and lectures, games, and music. Group conversations were recorded at 4 different times during the experimental period. The resulting data were categorized and subjected to cluster analysis. Additional information was gained from protocols of each session, medical and behavioral observation of Ss, and an interview with Ss at the end of the experimental period. (English abstract) (0 ref)
