Expressive therapy with C.P. children using movement, programme music and art Expressive Therapy with C.P. Children Using Movement, Progamme Music and Art |
Abstract: In this Master's thesis the author describes the importance of reaching the "pure inner core" of children with C.P., rather than emphasizing external stimuli, didactic issues and the internalization of these latter. These children must learn to understand themselves and their emotions in order to deal with their harsh reality. The author's premise is that self awareness and self acceptance both on the individual and the interpersonal level will facilitate acceptance of these children by their environment. In addition to presenting an overview on brain damage and therapeutic processes, the author describes her work with four children in the public remedial school.Referring to a variety of levels such as interpersonal issues, acquisition of personal skills and group processes, she focuses on the experience of pleasure, sharing personal fantasies and the dramatization of fantasies through the use of different art forms, especially music.
