Activity and co-activity in music therapy treatment. |
Journal/Book: Musiktherapeutische Umschau. 1989; 10: Stuttgart. G. Fischer Verlag. 33-49.
Abstract: In the literature on psychotherapy the patient's activity and the therapist's co-activity have often been the subject of critical debate. Recent psychotherapy and particularly music therapy publications however assume activity and co-activity not only provide defence against unconscious conflicts but also open up opportunities for understanding and experiencing in music therapy. A discussion of transference in the case study points out the connection between transference and defensive, restrictive activity, but also notes that, unlike psycho-analytical therapy, music therapy offers opportunities of creative activity that can open up new paths of understanding and experience.
